Canadian Club of Houston

My son was born here in Houston. Much to his dismay (he's 7), he laments that his mother, father and sister are all Canadian but he isn't. I explained to him that since I'm Canadian, and his mom is Canadian, that means he's automatically Canadian... but he's not satisified with that.

Well, I was planning on doing it anyway, but now's as good a time as any. I want to get my son his certificate of citizenship. I wanted to send David MacGregor a message, but couldn't figure out how on this thing.

I think I have everything. I have an official copy of my son's birth certificate. I have an official copy of my birth certificate. A "unofficial" photocopy of my son's passport. 2 identical photos that match the photo size/format requirements which was a pain because they don't match Canadian passport standards (BTW Walgreens can do passport photos automatically to US/Canadian/UK/German or Indian photo formats!!!) And a copy of the payment I made online with Citizenship and Immigration Canada... (only to realize afterward that outside of Canada I'm supposed to pay at the Consulate. D'OH!!!)

What else do I need? Where do I go? What do I do next?

Hi David, the Houston consulate has a Trade mission only and doesn't support passport and citizenship inquiries. The Dallas consulate handles those matters and can be reached:

Canadian Consulate General
500 N. Akard Street, Suite 2900
Dallas, Texas
T: 214-922-9806
F: 214-922-9815

BTW...to send a message you can:

1) go to Profiles
2) search for the person by name
3) click on their page and the Send A Message

Hope this helps!
Thanks!!! Just called, and got everything sorted out. Thanks Jeremy
David, where did you get your son's photo done? I need to do this as well.
Sorry Carolyn, I didn't get notification of your reply. I got it done at Walgreen's. They take the photo and then digitally print the photo to Canadian standard. It's AWESOME. No more desperately searching for a place, or having to tell them how to take the photo, or having the cut it to size myself.
I just got my son's Proof of Canadian Citizenship in the mail. It sounds like you are all set. I sent it in, in February. It took 6 months. Good luck. It was a fairly easy process.
