Canadian Club of Houston

So I get asked this question a lot..."What is typical Canadian food & drink?" And sometimes it's spedifically alcoholic drinks.

And the only thing I can ever come up with is poutine!

If you had to answer this question, what would you say?

What can you call typical!

Canada is a rich mixture of cultures, in Ottawa for example, you have so many ethnic enclaves all with fabulous food that has been "Canadianized" by the great source of fresh produce available in various local markets.

There are so many restaurants, brasseries etc.. For example after basketball games we used to go to the Raftsman for Quebec staples, like tortiere's, beans and pigs feet, pickled eggs, soups, fresh breads and draft beer. Tuesday evening was free bean night.

There are German, Irish, English, Polish, Italian and Greek neighborhoods and of course China town.

I suspect that most communities are like that ...

Vive la difference and Masel Tov!

I would give anything for a nice greasy shawarma with a pint of Keith's!
When travelling in Scotland I visited a bar and asked for a Rye and Ginger. I got Canadian Club and Canada Dry! All that way for a new experience and I was greeted with a taste of home.

Don't forget Beaver Tails!
And if you're feeling homesick....

The Candy Bars Eatmore,Oh Henry, we like our Coffee Crisp and The Real Smarties? Don't we eat the Red ones last? How about the East Coast. Dont' we eat Purple coloured salted seaweed? Speaking of salt... Salt and Vinegar Potato chips very popular. Oh by the way Chains.. Tim Hortons can be found in Michigan and Ohio. For good times tap The Keg in Dallas. No sign of Swiss Chalet.
