Christine,

We live in Katy - Seven Meadows area. My wife Grace has been talking to someone who moved from Calgary recently. It might have been you. Anyway we can get in touch.

Radu & Grace
We're in Katy! Love it here ...

Sorry Christine,
I should have let you know we're in Pine Mill Ranch!

Hi Christine,

I just moved from Toronto to Houston about a month and a half ago. The family will be in here shortly however I find Katy very dull... anyone else feel the same way?

Mark
LOL Mark B.

It's ok to admit you don't like Katy. I love the looks of Katy and on some sunny weekends I do wish I lived there and can go for a nice leisurely bike ride, hear the birds and see all the nice families out walking. But I agree, I would find it dull despite all the shopping and restaurants there. I think everyone is either an urbanite or a suburbanite. As much as I dislike the chaos and grimminess of the city center, I'm much more at home in urban neighborhoods. The only way I'd live in suburbia is if my job was there and the commute from the city was horrendous....nah, I think I'd still put up with the commute or change job.
Hey Christine,
I am late getting on this site, but we live in Katy too...and in Seven Meadows! Where abouts are you at?
Trudy
I live in Firethorne. I have a just-turned-two-year-old and would love to set up some playdates if anyone has kids of appropriate age (say, under 4?). I am a stay-at-home mum and can host the playdate at my home since it's too darn hot to be outside for long! Anyone with little ones, please e-mail me.

I had been toying with the idea of a Canada Day party but it looks like it just won't happen this year. Maybe a Canadian happy hour one Friday? It would be really great to meet some fellow Canucks. We're definitely not going to swelter at an outdoor picnic downtown again this Canada day.

Maybe we can get our own "Little Canada" happening in Katy. Or would it be "Canadatown?" Why should Italians and Chinese get all the fun?

Christine
Hi Christine,

Please check out our newly created "Canadian Moms" group. Hopefully this will be a great way for moms to connect with one another and organize play dates.

Please be sure to join the group and help us start getting the word out to all the Canadian moms in Houston!

Amy
Hi Mark,

I agree, it is quite dull in Katy. I lived in Toronto, then Long Island, NYC, and San Francisco before moving here. Texas is definitely not our permanent home and is by far the worst place that I have ever lived. But we are making the best of it, enjoying the cheap real estate, and searching out the nice people such as my fellow Canadians by getting in touch here!

I see your beautiful little girl in your member photo. She looks like she might be a bit older than my two-year-old? Maybe we can get them together for a playdate since we are finding lots of little boys but few little girls as playmates nearby. Hopefully your entire family is here now and your wife can e-mail me and we can set something up.
Hi Christine, sorry for the late reply as we've been busy moving into our new home (we ended up in Seabrook!). We're surrounded by water and palm trees... that's more than I could wish for and far nicer than other places I've seen in the Houston metro area.

I'll send you an email, let's get a play date for the little ones together!
Moved here November 2009. Originally from Lindsay, then Waterloo, thn Toronto, then Chicago, now Houston - a snowbird keeps moving south... Live in Katy in Southwest Cinco Ranch just south of Pine Miles near the Sedona pool. Our kids are grown up and going to school in Knoxville and Chicago. Under the category of it is a small world, my neighbor is also from Canada and went to the University of Waterloo. They are originally from Montreal and then Connecticut. I will give him this site - they have a two month old.
