Event Description

What would a Canadian group be without Canada Day? Because of the great turnout last year we are booking the full pavilion at Hermann Park and spending the afternoon with fellow Canadians (and their friends). Take this opportunity to meet fellow Canadians who are far from home but not far from friends. See you there!

What is provided?

- BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs with condiments - prepared by the Organizing committee
- Side salads
- Soft drinks and water
- Coolers for food and drinks
- Plates, napkins, and cutlery
- Our very own David McGregor (Head of Houston Consulate) will be drawing on his Trivia skillset and organizing games for everyone
- Canadian treats and decorations are generously supplied by Go Canuck!

Security

The area is very open to the public and we had some that felt uncomfortable with some uninvited guests. Due to the increase in size this year I have decided to hire an off-duty police officer as a deterent. I want to make sure that everyone knows that this is a very safe location and that we will be sharing our food with those that need it if they are polite.

What to bring:

- Lawn chairs, games, frisbee, cooler, drinks
- Whatever you need to keep cool (there is a cooling station for kids close by)
- Alcoholic beverages are allowed - no glass containers!

What we still need to make it a great day

- Yourself and friends - spread the word - it's a great time to get people to come and join the group
- Acoustic musician - you are welcome to play as long as it's not amplfied
- Volunteers are always needed, if you have some time to give this is a great event to start
- Sponsors - if you know of companies looking to get audience with a great group of international people please forward them my way

Cost

Adults - $8
Kids - 12 and under - $5

* To cover location rental, food, and maybe some of the Meetup.com fees

Please pay using PayPal on the website otherwise cash on the day. Please, if you RSVP and plan to pay at the location then ensure that you don't no show, the cost will come out of our pockets.

Please fill out the Registration Form

Location

We are in the large Pavilion at Hermann Park near the corner of Fannin & North Macgregor (please see the map in the Files section). We are right near a children's playground area, complete with a water splash play area to cool off in. We ARE allowed to bring our personal alcoholic beverages, just no glass containers. Also good news is that the restrooms, both men & women are right there in our pavilion.

Parking

Lots of choice all around, there's a parking lot that serves the medical center, street parking all around if you don't mind the walk.

What a great time. It was excellent to meet other families and to participate. The scavenger hunt was excellent. Need to bring more water next time, here we thought we had enough. Thanks Jeremy, Dave and the sponsors for an outstanding event. See you next time.

This will be fun. We are looking forward to it. Lorie and the 3 kids will most likely be the crew we are bringing. See you all there, eh.
